Prabhavati Bhagwati, a 98-year-old resident of Ahmedabad, has captured widespread attention by starting a food business in her later years, drawing praise from business leader Anand Mahindra. Following the death of her husband in 2017 after 68 years of marriage, Bhagwati experienced profound loneliness. Her home, once filled with shared routines, became quiet and empty. However, a turning point came during a social event where she shared her homemade khandvi, a challenging gram flour delicacy. Guests were impressed and requested paid orders for their occasions. This sparked the creation of her enterprise, Naniβs Nashta, in 2018. Operating from her home kitchen, the business spread through personal recommendations and messaging apps rather than formal marketing. Bhagwati offers a range of authentic Gujarati items, including soft dhoklas, portable theplas, hearty bhakri, vada pav, pav bhaji, and her signature khandvi. She now serves more than 200 households weekly, transforming her kitchen into a lively community spot for food and conversation. Mahindra highlighted her story on social media, calling it an inspiration across age groups. Bhagwati emphasizes that age should not limit new beginnings, stating one can embark on fresh paths at any time.
