A Ugandan national who recently traveled from the East African country tested negative for Ebola after being isolated in Bengaluru as a precaution, the Health Ministry stated on Wednesday. No confirmed Ebola cases exist in India, the Ministry noted. The 28-year-old woman, who had mild symptoms such as body aches, was moved from a hotel to the State-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital on Tuesday. A sample sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune returned negative for Ebola virus disease. She had traveled from Uganda to Ahmedabad before reaching Bengaluru. Officials confirmed she is now in good health. The Health Ministry continues to monitor the Ebola situation in Africa. Surveillance and public health measures follow World Health Organization guidelines in coordination with state authorities. Citizens are urged not to panic or spread misinformation and to use only official sources. The government issued a travel advisory on Saturday advising against non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan after the WHO declared the outbreak a global public health emergency.
