A training institute for General Nursing and Midwifery in Hathua, Bihar, has rescinded a directive that prohibited students from getting married while enrolled, after facing criticism from students, parents, and local authorities.

The issue arose from a letter dated April 16, issued on the school’s official stationery, which informed students that marriage during the program was not allowed. It stated that any violation would result in a report to the relevant department and immediate cancellation of the student’s registration, with the individual held accountable.

The document, stamped with the institution’s seal and signed by Principal Mansi Singh, was viewed as an authoritative order. This led to uncertainty and opposition from students and their families, who challenged the language used. The matter also sparked discussions online.
