Emergency responders recovered the body of the last missing individual on Sunday, July 12, 2026, after a debris slip at a tunnel project in Kalladi, Meppadi, Wayanad. The death toll has now reached eight. The victim, project manager Bikram Singh Rana from Himachal Pradesh, was located in Zone II amid accumulated iron debris on the sixth day of operations. Officials confirmed that all missing persons are now accounted for following the July 7 incident near the under-construction twin-tunnel road project. After identification by relatives, the body was taken to Vythiri Taluk Hospital for a postmortem and later to Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital for embalming prior to repatriation.
