Belagavi police are probing several gunshots fired at the Gymkhana club in the military camp area of the old city on July 14 night. Four rounds were discharged in the rear section where people were playing cards. Officers nearby heard the shots and rushed to the scene, which is close to the city police commissioner’s office. Staff reported that five individuals arrived late in the evening. Two remained outside while three entered the Rummy room. An argument erupted during the game, leading to a confrontation with Suresh Jalgar. One person struck him on the head with a revolver butt before firing two rounds at him. He escaped unharmed. The group then discharged two shots into the air. Senior officers, including Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao and Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Raje Urs, visited the location and spoke with staff and members. Police sources indicate the event was recorded on CCTV, and footage is under review.
