The Jammu and Kashmir government removed two books from school libraries, citing highly inappropriate content related to separatism. The counter-intelligence wing of the J&K Police searched the Jammu premises of one publisher after registering an FIR under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Education Minister Sakina Itoo called the incident unfortunate and a deliberate conspiracy. She confirmed that suspension orders have been issued and an inquiry ordered into how such books reached schools. The order also blacklisted the authors and their publishing houses from producing further material in the Union Territory.
