Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote to 29 automobile manufacturers on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, requesting their input on how E20 fuel affects vehicle mileage and performance. Replies are due within seven days.
Separate letters went to Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Hero MotoCorp. These referenced the companies’ recent statements that E20 fuel would not reduce mileage. Kejriwal asked for written assurances that manufacturers would compensate customers facing any mileage drop or vehicle issues from the fuel.
The three firms offered no immediate response.
Kejriwal also contacted 26 other manufacturers for their assessments of E20 fuel use, its potential effects on mileage and performance, and consumer concerns.
He plans to visit petrol pumps and speak with mechanics on Thursday, July 9, 2026, to gather their views, and will also consult vehicle owners about their experiences.
