Pune police approached a court on Thursday seeking permission to conduct a polygraph test on Siya Goyal, the main suspect in the killing of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal. Officers informed the court that apart from statements by the accused, there is no eyewitness account or solid proof identifying who pushed Agarwal into a gorge.

In their filing, police noted that statements from Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary have been taken, yet the test is required to advance the inquiry. They stated it could produce new leads and requested judicial approval.

Such tests are commonly requested when initial or supporting evidence is scarce. Results cannot be used as proof in court and serve only to guide investigators.

The case gained wide notice after Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal was allegedly thrown from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. He was engaged to Goyal, with their wedding planned for November.

Authorities have charged Goyal and Chaudhary with plotting the death. Both were detained following the event and remain in custody until July 3 while inquiries proceed.

This remains a developing story.
