Trinamool Congress parliamentarian Saugata Roy sent a letter on Tuesday to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing worry over recent incidents involving eggs being thrown at party figures. Roy pointed to increased violence targeting TMC workers and offices following the 2026 West Bengal Assembly polls. He noted that more than 2,000 party offices had been damaged and workers assaulted since results were declared on May 4. The letter specifically mentioned an egg attack on Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh outside former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence. Roy described being present during discussions when Ghosh returned after being hit while speaking to reporters. Complaints were filed with local police officials. Two individuals were later arrested in connection with that incident. Similar protests have occurred against other TMC leaders, including Roy and Abhishek Banerjee, in various locations across the state over the past six weeks.
