Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra stated that she encountered protests from a group reportedly made up of Bharatiya Janata Party workers at a local party office in her Krishnanagar constituency in Nadia on Wednesday. She said stones and eggs were thrown, resulting in minor injuries to her.
Moitra filmed two videos from a third-floor window and shared them online. The footage showed a large gathering holding party flags and black banners, chanting slogans while repeatedly throwing eggs at the building. Some eggs struck the windows, walls, and her clothing. Police and CRPF personnel were visible outside.
In the videos, she alleged that the police observed without intervening and described the group as organized rather than spontaneous. She noted that the incident occurred in her constituency and expressed concern over lack of action.
Moitra also addressed a live statement to the West Bengal police chief, claiming the protest had lasted over two hours at a roadside location. She urged authorities to disperse the crowd.
Separately, Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee reported that stones were thrown at his residence early Wednesday, sharing CCTV images of a helmeted individual on a motorcycle. He described the event as evidence of organized violence.
Another Trinamool MP, Dola Sen, faced black flag protests from BJP supporters while visiting Durgapur for a blood donation event. The state BJP president responded that the incidents reflected internal Trinamool issues rather than party actions.
