Lawrence Bishnoi, the jailed head of the Bishnoi gang, faces charges in the United States for allegedly directing the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia, Canada, three years earlier. Fresh US Justice Department filings reveal that 37 individuals stand accused of offences including extortion, drug trafficking, abduction and shootings.
The case involves members of three major criminal organisations, among them the Bishnoi gang, as part of a multinational effort against organised crime. Authorities reported three arrests in Canada, with 11 suspects still at large in the United States, India and Europe.
