Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam said on Wednesday that the party would strengthen its organization at the local level, support dedicated workers and contest the next assembly elections together to return to power. During his first visit to the state after the appointment, Gautam stated that the Congress would fight together and reinforce every booth. He told party workers at the state headquarters in Lucknow that the party would win Uttar Pradesh in 2027 and make Rahul Gandhi prime minister in 2029. Gautam said the Congress would defend the Constitution and rejected claims of conflict between B.R. Ambedkar and the party. He noted that the Congress had appointed Ambedkar as the country’s first law minister. He criticized the BJP-led governments at the centre and in the state, claiming that education had become costly despite economic growth and accusing them of failing to stop paper leaks or create government jobs. Gautam alleged that the BJP was promoting divisions against Dalits, backward classes and minorities, and said the Congress would work to reduce such differences. He also accused the BJP of misusing public faith and donations, and said the party would continue its efforts under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership for the rights of the poor and marginalized groups.
