A cluster of candidates connected to arrested JSSC CGL BSO Abhay Kumar Tiwari reportedly gained posts in the same recruitment drive. Relatives ranging from brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to distant kin are said to have succeeded together. As the state CID probes an alleged Rs 40-crore examination syndicate, Jharkhand youth question whether ordinary applicants still have a fair chance at government jobs.
Clearing a public service exam is meant to reward years of early mornings, long study hours, coaching sessions and repeated attempts. For many families it represents the chance to improve their circumstances.
Tiwari, a Block Supply Officer, faces investigation over claimed irregularities in competitive tests. The case has drawn attention because several successful candidates are described as his relatives.
The list includes his brother, brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and further family members. Named individuals and their alleged ranks are Abhay Kumar Tiwari, his wife’s brother, his own brother, his brother’s wife, his wife’s sister, Upendra Mishra (rank 51), Tejanarayan Pandit (rank 68), Bapi Kumar Mishra (rank 124), Bikram Pandey (rank 127) and Sumit Kumar Tiwari (rank 143).
If the relationships and any manipulation are confirmed, the matter would exceed routine exam misconduct and suggest a network captured a public hiring process.
The JSSC CGL exam is intended to give equal opportunity to thousands of candidates. Instead, the claims have raised concerns that family ties may have outweighed merit.
Investigators are also examining reports of payments between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 40 lakh promised for selection. Tiwari’s own record of clearing multiple prior exams, including police, navy, BARC and several JPSC tests, has added to the scrutiny.
