A woman tied her husband to a cot, held him captive overnight, assaulted him and administered electric shocks after a domestic dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, police said.
Police received information on Monday morning about an injured man at the location. Officers reached the site and took the victim, Sanjeev Tiwari, to the district hospital. Doctors provided initial care and referred him to Kanpur due to his serious condition.
During treatment, Tiwari told police that his wife had bound him to a cot on Sunday night, kept him captive and beaten him. He added that she used electrical wires to deliver shocks.
Once his condition improved, Tiwari’s brother filed a written complaint at the police station. Officers registered a case under relevant legal sections and detained the wife for questioning.
Fatehpur Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik stated that the couple often argued over alcohol, and tensions rose on Sunday night. The woman tied her husband to a cot, assaulted him and applied electric shocks with wires. Tiwari suffered a severe head injury and remains under treatment in Kanpur.
