The human body adapts constantly to the stresses it encounters. Its muscles form a flexible system that adjusts quickly to levels of use or disuse.

When consistent physical activity ends, the body does not merely halt improvements. Instead, it shifts priorities toward saving energy, triggering a steady reduction in muscle mass, power, and stamina. These attributes persist only when regularly required. Once that need vanishes, the same bodily processes that once enhanced muscles now contribute to their gradual weakening. Known as detraining, this change starts subtly, often without noticeable signs at first.
