On April 18, 2026, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan announced that the G20 satellite, intended for examining climate patterns, tracking air pollution, and observing weather conditions, is set to launch in 2027. Speaking to researchers from DRDO, ISRO, and the Aeronautical Society of India during an event at the Engineering Staff College of India, Dr. Narayanan noted that India holds the distinction of being the first nation to deploy 104 satellites via a single rocket without any mishaps.
