Ashok Sharma has been named in India’s T20I squad for the series against Zimbabwe. The 23-year-old pacer from Gujarat Titans expressed excitement about representing the country for the first time. He said he never wants to reduce his speed and aims to improve his skills further, hoping one day to reach 160 km/h if all goes well.

Sharma was initially hopeful for an earlier tour but stayed patient after not being selected. His recent performances include taking 22 wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Rajasthan and impressing with his pace in the IPL. He has also worked with several coaches who advised him to focus on his strengths rather than changing his style.

Pat Cummins encouraged him to build on his natural pace instead of chasing swing. Teammate Shubman Gill provided support and guidance without pressure. Sharma described his India A tour to Sri Lanka as special and credited bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji for useful tips on his action.

He has trained under Bharat Arun, Shane Bond and Ashish Nehra, all of whom stressed maintaining pace and fitness. Sharma remains focused on consistent improvement ahead of his debut series starting July 23.
