NEW DELHI: The final ODI against England at Lord’s may not be Rohit Sharma’s last match for India. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed retirement rumors on Saturday and confirmed the senior opener stays in India’s ODI plans. The statement follows reports that Sharma would no longer be an automatic selection after the England series, as selectors review all options ahead of the 2027 World Cup. Saikia stressed no decision has been taken on the player’s future. Media speculation about retirement was firmly rejected, with no discussion that Lord’s would be his final game. Sharma remains a regular member of the Indian ODI team and will continue representing the country while in the selection scheme. Earlier reports noted he is 13 matches from 300 ODI appearances but must maintain form and fitness to stay in the side.
