England forward Anthony Gordon is expected to finalize a deal with Barcelona on Friday, completing his transfer from Newcastle, according to the Spanish club.
Despite ongoing financial issues, Barcelona is prepared to pay Newcastle around 70 million euros, or about 81 million dollars, for the 25-year-old player.
Gordon reached Spain on Thursday and completed a medical assessment with the club.
The Spanish champions have indicated he will be officially introduced following the contract signing.
Last season, Gordon netted 17 goals for Newcastle, with 10 coming in the Champions League, including one during a round-of-16 defeat to Barcelona.
