FIFA World Cup 2026: Norway forward Erling Haaland posted an emotional farewell to the United States after his team’s campaign ended in a 2-1 quarter-final defeat to England.

In a social media message, the player wrote, “Goodbye US It’s been emotional!”

England advanced to face Argentina in the semi-finals following their victory, while Argentina had earlier beaten Switzerland 3-1.

Norway started strongly in Miami and took the lead through Andreas Schjelderup. Haaland also created chances early on. England equalised just before half-time through Jude Bellingham and took the lead in extra time after a goalkeeper error allowed Bellingham to score again.

The result ended Norway’s best World Cup performance to date. The team reached the quarter-finals for the first time after returning to the tournament for the first time since 1998.

Haaland scored seven goals across the group stage and knockout rounds, finishing as his country’s top scorer. He later described the experience as life-changing and expressed pride in the team’s unity and achievements on the global stage.
