Indian triple jumper Praveen Chithravel is eager to overcome past disappointments at major events and establish himself on the global stage. His national record stands at 17.37 metres. He placed fourth with 16.89 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, missing a medal by a narrow margin while two compatriots took gold and silver. At the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, he finished eighth in his qualifying group with 16.74 metres. These results have motivated him, as he has cleared 17 metres on five occasions in recent years. He described losing a Commonwealth Games medal by three centimetres and recalled an unexpected setback at last year’s World Championships when a strong first jump was ruled a foul and a subsequent attempt caused a calf injury. After clearing the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard with 17.08 metres, he reported no pain and expressed confidence in his preparation. His season has shown steady progress through domestic competitions. He emphasised his desire to compete against the world’s best athletes and represent India effectively at upcoming events.
