The New York Knicks claimed a 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. It was the first Knicks home playoff contest of the 21st century. The Spurs now must overcome a 2-0 deficit after losing the opening two games at home, a feat never before achieved.
Karl-Anthony Towns paced New York with 21 points on efficient shooting, 13 rebounds and strong defense. Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson each scored 20 points, while OG Anunoby added 17. Victor Wembanyama posted 23 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in 40 minutes for San Antonio. De’Aaron Fox scored 20 and rookie Dylan Harper had 15.
The fourth quarter saw repeated swings. The Spurs built a double-digit lead before the Knicks responded with a strong run. Late turnovers and free-throw opportunities kept the outcome in doubt until the final possession. Brunson recorded a key steal and converted from the line after a foul. Wembanyama’s last-second jumper fell short, sealing the narrow victory for New York.
