In a thrilling IPL 2026 encounter, Lucknow Super Giants clinched a dramatic victory on the final delivery against Kolkata Knight Riders, thanks to emerging talent Mukul Choudhary. The youngster made a strong debut impact with an aggressive, unbeaten innings of 54 runs from 27 deliveries, reversing the team’s fortunes in their pursuit of 182.

Following the match, where he was named Player of the Match, Choudhary discussed his background. He explained that his cricketing path began indirectly through his father’s long-held ambition for his son to pursue the sport, despite the family’s limited resources preventing an early start.

Choudhary recalled beginning his training around age 12 or 13, when options were scarce. He joined the newly established SBC Cricket Academy and spent five to six years developing his skills there.

To advance his career, he relocated multiple times. He moved to Jaipur for superior training facilities, where he has practiced for the past four years. Additionally, a brief stint in Gurugram allowed him to compete in Delhi matches, enhancing his ability to handle high-speed gameplay.

Under the intense pressure of the chase, Choudhary maintained a focused outlook. He viewed the opportunity as a divine gift and relied on self-confidence to perform. His goal was to build a reputation through such pivotal moments.

His strategy during the innings was straightforward: endure until the end, trusting his capacity to secure the win if he stayed at the crease. He anticipated that even against precise bowling, an opportunity would arise for a powerful shot.

That moment arrived early, and he capitalized with his first six of the match, which held special significance after recent games without boundaries. Choudhary attributed his bold playing style to a lifelong preference for offensive cricket.

Despite the acclaim, he stayed humble, comparing his contributions to those of national defenders at the borders while emphasizing his role in the sport.
