Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu defeated Alireza Firouzja in classical chess, while world champion Gukesh Dommaraju beat Wesley So in the Armageddon playoff, keeping the overall race tight. Praggnanandhaa steadily turned his advantage into a win against Firouzja. Gukesh drew the classical game with So before claiming the Armageddon. Magnus Carlsen and Vincent Keymer also drew their classical encounter, after which Carlsen won the Armageddon. Wesley So leads the standings with 12.5 points, Firouzja is second on 10, and Carlsen, Keymer plus Praggnanandhaa are tied on nine each.
In the women’s section, Divya Deshmukh and Humpy Koneru drew their classical game before Divya won the Armageddon. Bibisara Assaubayeva scored a classical victory to widen her lead at the top.
