Pat Cummins, one of the leading fast bowlers of his era, endured heavy punishment from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the 2026 Indian Premier League season. During the Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals, Cummins finished with figures of 0/64, including 25 runs conceded in a single over where Sooryavanshi struck a four and three successive sixes. The teenager came close to breaking Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest IPL century.
Cummins remarked that the 15-year-old had confirmed his ability with another strong performance. “I’d say the mood in India is still a little bit of disbelief,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald. “He’s got enough credits now that he’s not just a flash in the pan. He’s a real talent. He’s just a really good hitter of the ball, clearing the boundary by 20 or 30 metres, so your margins for error become really small.”
