During Tuesday’s Portugal training session, the national women’s team paid a visit while jersey numbers were revealed for the squad. The number 21, previously worn by the late Diogo Jota, was assigned to his teammate Ruben Neves. Jota died last year in a road accident. Neves had mentioned the spiritual presence of his friend within the group at Monday’s media briefing. Matheus Nunes received the number six shirt and will occasionally feature at right-back, while another player takes number 24. Tomas Araujo wears four, and Nuno Mendes has 25, according to reports. Lower numbers went to Diogo Costa (1), Nelson Semedo (2), Ruben Dias (3), Diogo Dalot (5), Cristiano Ronaldo (7), Bruno Fernandes (8), Goncalo Ramos (9), Bernardo Silva (10) and Joao Felix (11). At 41, Ronaldo prepares for his sixth World Cup appearance after securing multiple club and international honors, including the European Championship and Nations League, and following a strong Saudi Pro League campaign.
