Rohit Sharma has scored only 37 runs across two ODIs against England in Birmingham and Cardiff. He made 11 off 21 balls at Edgbaston and 26 off 47 balls at Sophia Gardens. Once known for aggressive batting at the top, he now faces frequent dot balls and lacks fluency. In the first match, 14 of 21 deliveries were dots. In the second, 28 of 47 were dots. He was repeatedly beaten by seamers including Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, Saqib Mahmood and Gus Atkinson. His dismissal came via a top-edged sweep off Will Jacks that was caught by Jos Buttler. Rohit has also looked uncomfortable in practice sessions, facing sidearm bowlers and arriving late to nets. In three ODIs versus Afghanistan he scored 143 runs at an average of 47.66. During the IPL he managed 283 runs in nine games. With Yashasvi Jaiswal performing well, Rohit’s form is a concern for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, where he will be 40. He trails teammates in recent run tallies and appears hesitant against pace.
