On Friday, Google unveiled new agentic functions within its AI Mode for users in India. This enhancement enables people to locate and secure restaurant reservations straight from the Search interface. The company, headquartered in Mountain View, states that the goal is to offer practical assistance for everyday tasks, making it easier for individuals to accomplish objectives without unnecessary hassle. According to Google, these advanced features manage intricate requests and minimize the need for manual searches on various sites.
Agentic Functions Now Accessible in AI Mode for Indian Users
With this update, AI Mode can interpret elaborate requests for restaurant bookings, taking into account factors like group size, preferred date and time, area, and type of food, as detailed in a company statement. Rather than users navigating multiple applications or sites, the system reviews various sources instantly to suggest appropriate choices.
Google indicates that the tool verifies current availability from different services, assembles the information, and delivers a tailored selection of eateries that fit the user’s criteria. If suitable options appear, it supplies immediate links to reservation pages, enabling bookings to be finalized seamlessly. This is designed to transform the reservation process into a straightforward, one-interaction experience.
The functionality relies on Google’s Knowledge Graph, connections with Maps, real-time web exploration from Project Mariner, and collaborations with partners. In India, integrations include services such as Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner to support these operations.
The restaurant booking option is being deployed nationwide, with plans for more features and partnerships ahead.
This development aligns with Google’s efforts to expand its Gemini-based AI offerings in India. Recently, the company revealed several updates, including broader support for Search Live in various local languages powered by the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live model.
Additionally, Google has upgraded the shopping features in AI Mode for Indian users, facilitating easier product exploration, comparisons, and purchases. As a result, individuals can access listings ready for purchase, comparison charts, price details, and buying links right within conversations, bypassing conventional search methods.
