The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in Idukki and Ernakulam districts on June 12, 2026. Yellow alerts indicating isolated heavy rain apply to Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod. Very heavy rain is also forecast for Ernakulam and Thrissur on June 11, with isolated heavy showers expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. These conditions stem from cyclonic circulations over the Bay of Bengal. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services has warned of the kallakkadal phenomenon, featuring sudden sea swells and rough waves of 0.8 to 1.4 metres, along the Kerala coast from 8:30 p.m. on June 11 to 11:30 p.m. on June 12.
