Persistent heavy rain disrupted flight schedules at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday. Airport officials reported 17 cancellations and 217 delays affecting both arrivals and departures by 11:30 am.
The disruptions occurred while the city remained under a red alert from the India Meteorological Department amid intense rainfall and strong winds.
Several carriers released updated travel notices urging passengers to confirm flight status prior to departure for the airport.
Akasa Air noted that heavy rain in Mumbai, Pune and Goa could cause delays across parts of its network. The airline expressed regret for any inconvenience and asked travelers to verify their flight details before heading out.
IndiGo informed passengers that poor weather over Mumbai might affect schedules and stated it was monitoring conditions while supporting impacted travelers.
SpiceJet warned on social media that heavy rain in Mumbai could delay departures, arrivals and connecting flights. It advised passengers to check status on its website before traveling.
Air India indicated that adverse weather might influence operations to and from Mumbai and Delhi.
With forecasts showing continued showers, airlines recommended passengers monitor official updates and confirm flight status to minimize disruption.
