Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote to 29 automobile manufacturers on Wednesday about concerns over E20 fuel in vehicles made before 2023. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, he said he sent separate letters to Maruti, Toyota and Hero after their representatives stated at a government event that older vehicles would face no issues with the blend. Kejriwal noted that the companies’ own owner manuals advise against using fuel with more than 10 percent ethanol in pre-2023 models. He asked the firms whether they would compensate owners for mileage losses above 10 percent or for any damage to vehicle components caused by E20. The letter requested a public written statement within one week clarifying the safety of the fuel and expected mileage reduction. Similar letters were sent to the remaining manufacturers highlighting the nationwide debate over the blend.
