For the first time, breast reduction surgeries and implant removals have exceeded the number of breast augmentations in the UK, according to recent data. Experts attribute this change to a preference for active living. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons’ yearly report indicates 4,761 breast augmentation operations in 2025, marking an 8% decline from the prior year. In contrast, there were 4,673 reductions and 847 removals. Surgeons suggest this pattern stems from a focus on comfort, physical activity, and the popularity of fitted athletic wear. The data also highlights growth in facial treatments, such as facelifts and eyelid operations. Brow lifts saw a 27% increase. Labiaplasty, which alters the labia’s size or shape, rose by 6%. BAAPS president Nora Nugent commented that this marks a move from dramatic figures to natural forms that suit dynamic routines and casual sportswear. She linked the uptick in labiaplasty to exercise-related discomfort and visibility in tight apparel, noting many mature women are newly discovering it as relief for long-term issues. Consultant surgeon Dr. Anil Joshi observed patients seeking subtle results over evident alterations. He explained that while augmentations continue, motivations now emphasize daily life rather than size, and removals often align with life changes rather than regrets. Females represented 93.9% of procedures, with 25,217 operations in 2025, down 2% from the previous year. Overall, 26,840 cosmetic surgeries occurred, a 2% decrease. Among men, facial options are gaining prominence, with eyelid surgery leading at 346 cases, up 8%, surpassing nose reshaping at 273, down 18%.
