In Bengaluru, a 27-year-old woman employed at a telecommunications store allegedly lured her boyfriend to her residence, blindfolded him, secured him to a chair under the guise of a modern proposal ritual, and then ignited him after dousing him with a flammable substance. Authorities reported that the woman recorded the event and observed as the man succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, also 27, worked alongside the woman and had been in a relationship with her for more than a year. Recently, she believed he was neglecting her and refusing to commit to marriage.
The incident occurred at her home in the Anjanapura area of south Bengaluru, where she resided with her mother and brother. She invited him over when alone, engaged in conversation, then blindfolded him and began restraining him while filming.
According to police, when he protested the restraints, she claimed it was part of a trendy international proposal method. Once immobilized, she applied the accelerant and set him ablaze.
Deputy Commissioner of Police DL Nagesh confirmed that the woman was arrested and, during interrogation, admitted to the act, citing feelings of being ignored in their relationship.
