The arrest of a YouTuber by Chennai Cyber Crime Police has triggered political controversy in Tamil Nadu. BJP state president Nainar Nagendran accused the TVK government of suppressing critics and called for the immediate release of the social media commentator. The YouTuber, known for criticizing the TVK administration, was detained after officers from Chennai Cyber Crime and Madurai Police visited his home following an inquiry. Nagendran claimed the arrest targeted the individual for highlighting the government’s alleged ‘Reels Model’. In a statement, he condemned the action as arbitrary and questioned if silencing dissent represented the alternative politics promised by TVK. He further alleged that the ruling party had abandoned its pledges of change, moving faster than the previous DMK government to restrict public voices. The BJP leader demanded the YouTuber’s release and warned against using police to limit free expression. Authorities have not disclosed specific charges, and the incident has intensified political tensions between opposition parties and the government.
