Police have filed a culpable homicide case against two coaches and cricket associations after a 15-year-old boy died when a heavy pitch roller crushed him during a summer camp in Maharashtra’s Solapur district, officials said Tuesday.

The victim, Aarav alias Viren Chaudhary, suffered fatal injuries on May 30 while helping other children move the equipment to ready the pitch for practice. He became trapped underneath, according to an official.

Police said the children were following coaches’ instructions and no adult supervisor was present. Barshi city police registered the case under section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after inquiries showed the task was done without supervision or safety measures. Investigation continues.
