A wedding in Maharashtra’s Nanded district became an occasion for community support rather than solely a private event. The groom’s family arranged accident insurance coverage for all residents of the village. The ceremony occurred in Bahadurpura village for the marriage of Siddheshwar Pethkar and Manjusha. The Pethkar family provided coverage for nearly 3,500 villagers to offer financial protection in the event of accidents. Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora described the decision to provide insurance as a wedding gesture as noteworthy and recalled a comparable action taken at his own wedding with his wife. He posted that such choices by young Indians reflect compassion. Social media users also highlighted the initiative, noting that private citizens had addressed a need typically associated with government responsibility. Some comments observed that the family chose not to publicize the act widely, in keeping with cultural views on charity.
