Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the Bhojshala complex on Monday and performed rituals for Goddess Vagdevi. He stated that Dhar was entering a new phase following a High Court decision that identified the site as a Hindu temple. The ruling on May 15 described the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula complex as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Yadav became the first sitting chief minister to conduct worship there after the verdict. The visit occurred days after Hindu groups held a large aarti under security and Muslim organizations staged protests by offering prayers at home while wearing black bands. Yadav performed aarti and addressed the crowd, noting the date aligned with Ganga Dussehra. He congratulated residents of Dhar and linked the outcome to a long-standing effort. He also highlighted historical figures from Malwa and their contributions to regional culture. Yadav announced plans to create a Maa Saraswati Lok and a Raja Bhoj Research Institute in Dhar. The site has featured in discussions within the BJP and associated groups alongside other religious disputes. The court decision provides a regional focus for the party in Madhya Pradesh. A senior BJP leader described it as a visible achievement that could appear in future election messaging. Groups connected to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and local organizations have maintained activity around the location through legal and symbolic actions. The verdict has prompted calls for expanded access and removal of certain symbols. Yadav also inaugurated development projects worth over 88 crore rupees and announced financial support for families of individuals involved in the dispute. The Muslim side has challenged the High Court decision in the Supreme Court, citing prior worship arrangements under archaeological regulations.
