A major political dispute has broken out in Telangana after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy made strong comments about Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders regarding the state’s irrigation problems. The opposition accused him of inflammatory rhetoric rather than focusing on farmers’ needs.
The issue arose when a reporter questioned how farmers would manage if drought conditions continued and irrigation supplies stayed unavailable.
In reply, Reddy sharply criticized BRS figures. He suggested opposition leaders should jump into the Kaleshwaram project waters with stones tied to themselves to remove bad luck, claiming they had committed wrongs and misled the public. He added that KCR was hiding at a farmhouse while others showed no shame.
Reddy further stated that spilling the leaders’ blood on fields would help crops grow, with their ego and excess sufficient for cultivation. He described them as overly clever and in need of discipline, offering to cover costs for experts to examine them.
The exchange occurs amid ongoing conflict over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. BRS has called for water release from the Kannepalli pump house, asserting adequate supplies exist despite dry weather. The Congress government insists it will follow National Dam Safety Authority guidance against storing water until safety issues are resolved.
Reddy defended the approach, urging against politicizing projects and labeling BRS leaders as corrupt liars and cheats in an official statement on the KCR family.
BRS responded forcefully, with MLA T Harish Rao demanding an apology and noting the Chief Minister spoke of blood instead of water. He said the party would provide blood if required but needed water for fields.
KT Rama Rao called Reddy a bloodthirsty figure and questioned if his thirst remained unquenched. He affirmed willingness to sacrifice for farmers while demanding water supplies, referencing past struggles for the state.
