A US national accused in a terror training case has petitioned a Delhi court for approval to cook his own food inside Tihar Jail. He claims the prison meals, described as overly spicy and oily, have prevented him from eating for more than 50 days and harmed his health.
Matthew Aaron VanDyke, held in judicial custody following arrest by the National Investigation Agency for alleged involvement in a plot targeting India, asked the court to allow basic cooking tools and ingredients for an American-style diet, according to his lawyers.
