New Delhi: Renowned Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 53rd birthday on Friday. His distinguished career is highlighted by groundbreaking records and memorable displays that have profoundly influenced cricket globally. Tendulkar was regarded as the most versatile batsman of his era, the leading scorer in history, and possibly the sport’s greatest figure. He achieved the highest number of centuries in Test matches and one-day internationals, notably scoring his initial ODI century only in his 79th game. Accumulating 34,357 runs across international formats, Tendulkar remains the top run-scorer in cricket. Over his extensive career, he repeatedly established benchmarks that continue to stand unmatched. Demonstrating exceptional endurance, the ‘Master Blaster’ played in 200 Test matches, more than any other athlete in that format. He scored 15,921 runs, 51 centuries, and 2,058 boundaries, all records in Test cricket. Known as India’s ‘God of Cricket,’ he was the quickest to reach 15,000 Test runs, achieving it in 300 innings, a unique accomplishment. His one-day international tenure lasted 22 years and 91 days, the longest on record. In 1998, he tallied 1,894 runs and nine centuries, setting enduring records for the most runs and centuries in a single year in ODIs. During his ODI career, he notched 145 fifties and hit 2,016 boundaries, both the highest figures in the format. Tendulkar was the fastest to 18,000 ODI runs, reaching that mark in 440 innings, another singular feat. Overall, he earned the most Player of the Match honors with 76, along with the highest totals for career runs at 34,357, fifties at 264, scores in the nineties at 28, and boundaries at 4,076 across all formats.
