Details about Xiaomi’s next high-end smartphone have surfaced in a recent leak. While the specific model remains unconfirmed, the information points to a potential Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, aimed at consumers seeking a big-screen device with superior media and photography features. Previous reports have suggested upgrades in camera technology and battery capacity, though Xiaomi has yet to make any official announcements.
The device is reportedly undergoing tests with Qualcomm’s SM8975 processor, anticipated to be released as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro system-on-chip. It is expected to include a spacious flat screen nearing 6.9 inches, providing ample space for internal hardware.
The leak indicates enhancements in the phone’s build, with initial versions featuring symmetrical dual speakers and a substantial X-axis vibration motor for improved, accurate haptic responses. Testing shows refined vibration quality.
The primary camera is said to boast a 200-megapixel sensor sized at 1/1.28 inches, designed to boost performance and manage heat without compromising photo quality. It may offer superior high dynamic range capabilities. The setup could incorporate a hybrid glass-plastic lens, and the zoom lens might enable close-up photography with an expanded aperture.
Early prototypes suggest a pair of 200-megapixel cameras, one with periscope technology. These specifics come from preliminary units and could evolve before release. The Xiaomi 18 lineup is projected to debut in China this September, equipped with advanced Snapdragon processors. The standard version might use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while higher-tier options could feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is anticipated to include an 8,500mAh battery supporting 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It is likely to operate on HyperOS 4, built on Android 17.
