Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the PM Family Care Tracker, a digital system designed to improve monitoring of maternal and child health, nutrition and family welfare through real-time tracking of beneficiaries. The pilot project began in Gujarat, starting with Gandhinagar, and aims to link health, nutrition and welfare services for pregnant women, newborns, infants, children and adolescents up to age 18. The platform tracks key milestones such as antenatal and postnatal care, vaccinations, nutrition, growth, school attendance and adolescent health services. It includes digital health passports for families, dashboards for welfare scheme delivery and automatic alerts for missed vaccinations. The system integrates data from birth and death registries along with health, nutrition and education records to support coordination across departments. Officials expect the tool to enable faster interventions, lower maternal and infant deaths, reduce malnutrition and close gaps in service delivery. During the event, Mr. Shah also gave polio drops to children to highlight ongoing focus on immunisation. The initiative is part of efforts to use technology for better governance and data-driven welfare. After the Gujarat pilot, the platform is planned for phased rollout elsewhere. A senior official noted that the family-centred design replaces separate scheme records, allowing one interface to monitor every member. The system supports convergence among health, women and child development, education and civil registration departments so frontline workers can spot missed services quickly. It also reduces duplicate records and helps district and state authorities identify high-risk pregnancies and malnutrition cases through digital dashboards. Further expansion decisions will follow the Gujarat assessment.
