Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav led four important sessions in Coimbatore on Thursday focused on wildlife policy and protection issues. He met with representatives from the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife, the National Tiger Conservation Authority, the Central Zoo Authority and the Wildlife Institute of India Society. The SC-NBWL session examined more than 100 proposals seeking wildlife clearance. Committee members assessed ongoing conservation efforts and considered extended protection plans for the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros and the Great Indian Bustard. Following the session, Yadav posted on X that a second Great Indian Bustard chick, produced by the jumpstart technique on May 21 in Naliya, Gujarat, had passed the first 40 critical days.
