Spain neutralized the FIFA World Cup’s strongest attack and defeated pre-tournament favorites France 2-0, advancing to only their second final in tournament history. Coach Luis de la Fuente’s team kept Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise quiet, preventing the French attack from controlling play.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring with a penalty after Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal. Pedro Porro later finished a fluid team move to make the score 2-0.

France, widely viewed as the strongest side in the competition, struggled to find any flow. Spain maintained possession, dominated midfield and produced another strong defensive display to set up a final against either England or Argentina.
